MARCOS Senesi insists Cherries “have to look forward now” after breaking the club’s all-time Premier League points record.

With three games to spare, Cherries eclipsed the 2016-17 tally with a 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Vitality Stadium.

That moved Andoni Iraola’s men onto 48 points and back up into the top half of the table.

Asked how proud he was of that achievement, centre-back Senesi told the Daily Echo: “We are happy to beat the record of the club, but we have to look forward now.

“There are three games where we can finish even higher in the table and we will go for that.

“We know we have three tough games now before the end of the season and we will try to get points.

“Then where we finish is the best for us.”

Cherries began this season without a win in their first nine league matches.

Iraola’s men round off their season with trips to Arsenal and Chelsea, either side of a home game against Brentford.

Asked how encouraging it is looking ahead to next season that Cherries managed to break the club’s points record, despite the slow start, Senesi added: “Now we have to try to finish the season as best as possible and we will see what happens for the next season.”
